Travel and Leisure's March, 1999 readership survey selected San Miguel as the 6th most favorite city in their world's best value survey. Conde Nast Traveler's November, 1998 survey placed San Miguel as the 12th most favorite city to visit in the whole world . Sunset Magazine devoted 7 pages to San Miguel in October, 1998 and the April, 1999 issue of Southern Living praised a local hotel in an article titled "Sanctuary in San Miguel".

Fortune Magazine has proclaimed SMA among the world's 20 most desirable retirement locations and San Miguel's charm has received similar acclaim in '97 from Forbes, Travel and International Living magazines as well as other periodicals including the LA Times and the New York Times.

From Casa Chepito it's ten minutes on foot down to the main square, ten minutes up to the Jardin Botanico, Mexico's largest botanical garden, and minutes away from more than 800 miles of some of the best mountain biking trails in Mexico.
